Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CaveButler, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use this Software.

License Grant

• Free License: Personal, non-commercial use. You may use CaveButler for personal purposes at no cost.
• Commercial License: For business or commercial use, you must purchase a valid commercial license through Lemon Squeezy or our authorized resellers.
• Unauthorized commercial use of the free version is prohibited.

Restrictions

• You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
• You may not rent, lease, or lend the Software.
• You may not use the Software for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
• You may not sell, sublicense, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works of the Software without prior written permission.
• You may not remove or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.

Commercial Use Definition

• Using CaveButler in a business environment for operational purposes.
• Using the Software as part of a commercial product or service.
• Using the Software to support revenue-generating activities.
• Using the Software in government or institutional settings where applicable fees are charged for the service.

Intellectual Property, Warranty, and Liability

All intellectual property rights in the Software remain with the developer, and you are granted only the limited rights described in these Terms. The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Software.

Termination and Changes

This license is effective until terminated. Your rights terminate automatically if you violate any provision of these Terms of Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time, and changes are effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of modified terms.

Introduction

CaveButler is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Data Overview

Most data associated with CaveButler never leaves your computer. The only information we receive directly is a small, anonymous telemetry event if you agree to telemetry (enabled by default, and you can disable it at any time in Settings).

Data Stored Locally on Your Computer

• Configuration Data: rules, folders, file patterns, and preferences entered into the Software.
• Usage Preferences: settings, language preferences, and logging level configurations.

Billing Data Processed by Lemon Squeezy

If you purchase a commercial license, billing and payment information is collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy (not by us).

Data We Receive (Anonymous Telemetry)

If telemetry is enabled, CaveButler sends one small anonymous launch event per install per UTC day. The event contains no personal information, no file data, and no device identifiers, only the minimal fields listed below. Its sole purpose is to help us count active installs and understand software adoption trends.

Telemetry Data Elements

When telemetry is enabled, the event includes an event name, an anonymous install identifier derived from a locally generated install ID and fixed salt, the application version, platform, schema version, and a server receipt timestamp. It is designed to avoid direct identification and does not transmit a raw machine GUID or device serial number.

File Information

• CaveButler operates locally on your computer.
• It does not collect file contents or metadata.
• It does not scan or transmit file data outside your system.
• It only performs changes in the filesystem locations you explicitly choose or in the Software's own settings and configuration files.

How Information Is Used and Stored

• Information is used to process commercial license transactions and comply with legal obligations.
• Anonymous telemetry is used to measure daily active installs and high-level product usage trends.
• Configuration and file management rules are stored locally on your computer.
• Payment information is handled securely by Lemon Squeezy and credit card details are not stored by CaveButler.
• Telemetry events are sent over HTTPS to our telemetry endpoint and stored in our telemetry backend.
• Industry-standard encryption is used for data transmitted during update checks and telemetry events.

Third-Party Services and Retention

Billing is processed through Lemon Squeezy (https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy). Cloudflare infrastructure is used to receive and store telemetry events and related service logs. CaveButler does not use advertising trackers or data brokers, and it does not sell personal data. Configuration data remains on your computer until you uninstall the Software or delete the data, while telemetry data is retained only as long as needed for analytics, operations, and legal or security purposes.

Your Rights and Policy Changes

• Access and review configuration data stored locally on your computer.
• Delete all configuration data by uninstalling the Software.
• Opt out of automatic update checks in settings.
• Opt out of anonymous telemetry in CaveButler Settings.
• Request information about what data has been collected.

CaveButler is not intended for users under the age of 13. Privacy policy changes are effective immediately upon posting.

Overview

We stand behind CaveButler and want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If you are not satisfied, you can return the Software within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

Free Version and Eligibility

The free version of CaveButler is provided at no cost, so no refund applies to it. For commercial licenses, you may request a refund within 30 days of the original purchase date.

Non-Refundable Scenario

Refunds will not be issued for purchases made more than 30 days ago.

How to Request a Refund

1. Contact us with your license key and proof of purchase within 30 days of purchase.
2. Include your transaction ID so the order can be located quickly.
3. Refund requests are reviewed and answered within 5 business days.

Refund requests are processed through Lemon Squeezy, so include your transaction ID in all communications.

Processing and License Deactivation

If a refund is approved, we will notify you and Lemon Squeezy, approved refunds are typically processed within 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method, and the commercial license is deactivated so you revert to the free version.

Special Circumstances, Subscriptions, and Disputes

If your request is outside the 30-day window, please still contact us and we may offer support or alternative resolutions at our discretion. Commercial licenses are sold on a one-time purchase basis, not as recurring subscriptions, with no automatic renewals or hidden charges. If you have a dispute, you may send additional information, request escalation to management, or file a dispute through Lemon Squeezy if the issue is billing-related.

Policy Changes and Contact

We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy, and changes will not apply retroactively to requests already in process. For refund inquiries, contact us at cavebutler@cavemansoft.com with your license key, transaction ID, date of purchase, reason for the request, and any relevant error details.
